Mary Bahr
Finance Manager
Mary Bahr is a native Kansan, originally from Wichita. She worked at Pizza Hut’s corporate offices while earning her BS in Business Management from Wichita State University. That’s where she met her husband, Steve.
Mary continued with Pizza Hut for a year after she graduated in 1988, and then went on to earn an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis in 1991. Moving to Kansas City, she took a job in Accounting Operations with Sprint.
In 1998, following the arrival of both son Joe and his little sister Sydney, Mary began her career as a stay-at-home mom. Someone who always enjoyed working, Mary now applied her many talents to school and church volunteer positions. She served as a board member for both the Prairie Fund and the Shawnee Mission East Educational Excellence Fund. Mary also held key leadership roles in notable education fundraisers and activities. She co-chaired the St. Ann’s preschool Sunday school program for many years as well.
Mary became Care Haven’s Finance Manager in 2015. Her exceptional skill with numbers and spreadsheets may have attracted us to her, but Mary’s love and respect for extended family sealed the deal. After all, Care Haven’s mission is to create family-style settings in real homes, so it’s critical that the person who answers your questions about money share that commitment.
“I like working with the team at Care Haven. Together, we’re constantly striving to improve our processes and procedures to make life better for residents, their families and our caregiving team.”
Mary is responsible for all financial operations at Care Haven, including billing, payroll, disbursements, financial statements, benefits administration and more. (If you ever doubt that she’s a vital member of our management team, check in with an uncharacteristically frazzled Neil while she’s on vacation!)
